I have a 2017 Pacifica with just under 68k miles and I had a 5th cylinder misfire. I brought it in for service and they replaced the plugs and coils. I drove for a couple days and the same error message. I took it back and they discovered a blown head gasket. This seems like low mileage for something like this to happen.Dealer want $8500 dollars but I take it to different mechanic and cost me $5000 dollars car was with excellent condition and all service Done on time !!! This is bad bad bad !!!!
So sorry to read of your Pacifica's head gasket failure. Your username has been added to the list. It is #246.

One other note, I mentioned I was going to try to sell it before I saw another issue with the head gasket and my mechanic said there shouldn't be the same issue as the head gaskets he got from the dealership were improved quality over the originals. Not sure if true but not sure why he'd lead me astray.
Interesting can you post the Mopar part number for the upgraded Head Gasket?

Our mechanic just told us that we have a broken head gasket and referred us to go to the dealership because of how big of a job it is 😭😭😭it's a 2017 as well and we have had nothing but problems with it since we bought it 😥
Sorry this is happening to you. We ended up having to go to the dealer as well for the same repair a couple of years ago. In our area shops make more money with smaller/fast repairs rather than having a car take up bay space for a couple of days for a large repair.

Just got a call from local Chrysler dealer, our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica with 33,456 mi needs head gaskets to resolve stall and misfire problem. $5600 est. Guess that will be the last Chrysler I buy. I have had 4 Chrysler mini vans and was very happy with them until now. If his is such a problem, why wont Chrysler at least try to help customers with resolving the problem by paying some of the cost?

I’m having the same issue with my Chrysler Pacifica, 2007. my check engine light came on three months ago and it read cylinder misfire. Had new ignition call and spark plugs put in. However, the check engine light still came on. The ignition call and spark, plug, rechecked and tight, everything seemed to work fine, took a road trip for about nine hours and the vehicle tried to overheat. I took it to a new shop and found out that the head gasket is blown. The technician said that the repairs could cost anywhere between $5000-$7000 or more. He did not recommend that I repair it because it has 91K miles on it and I still owe over 24k. However, I am having trouble trading it in because now, it’s only a worth about 11k. This was a high-risk purchase because I wanted the van so badly. I have gap as well as an extended warranty on the vehicle. Therefore, pretty sure that the extended warranty company will pay for the repairs, well, at least some of them. This has been a nightmare! So I’m stuck with a vehicle that needs major repairs yet I still owe a great bit and cannot drive it. I don’t know where to go from here. Help! Any advice is welcome!

I assume by now you have read the terms of your extended warranty. Is it from Mopar? If not, there are some third party warranty companes that will deny a claim if it can be shown that the engine was run in an overheated condition. The 3.6L Pentastar in Pacificas has indicators that can be checked by a technician to confirm such an anomaly. An overheated Pentastar is problematic in that it often results in a warped cylinder head and/or a cracked block and having to replace the entire engine.

If the repair is indeed covered, then it is a matter of coughing up the deductible and planning on being without your Pacifica while having to rent a replacement. Again, check the warranty contract as they may partially offset the cost of the rental. It won't be much, and it might be for a limited duration, but it will be better than nothing.

Once the repair is done you will be in a better position to sell it, trade it in, or perhaos decide to keep it.

Thank you so much for your response. The warranty company is Route 66, and they are very picky with certain repairs. I also had the oil housing done in April, and they didn’t want to pay for that. However, they did, but I had to come out the pocket with for the ignition coil and spark plugs as well as labor. I just don’t know if it’s worth me investing any more money into it. I would like to get it traded, but I will have to come out the pocket for the negative equity.😩

Same thing with my sons 2017 he recently purchased and he was told it is the lh head gasket and the warranty company doesn't consider this drivetrain? Since I see this is a ongoing problem and he got denied the warranty work it's just crazy. Because honestly I warned him to not buy one and stay away from anything from chrysler. But he's a grown sheriff with 3 kids now and out of his van that he needs. He recently bought it and it had this problem from the first week. I asked him to take it back to them and say "no way" because it had a warranty he delayed and got denied on a scam warranty company. I feel bad for him and his family but I guess he's going to keep paying the payment and pay for the repairs which is insane to me. I really hope that dealership and warranty get what's coming to them! It's just to frustrating for me to get involved in this cluster.

Did he get the Chrysler Maximum Care Warranty
Or some 3rd party warranty?

We are literally dealing with the exact same issue. 5th cylinder misfire, put all new plugs and coils in. 2 weeks later the car wouldn't start and needed a new starter. That lasted about 2 weeks the starter is gone again. $2000 in and we are now searching for a new car and we owe more than the Pacfica is worth. No issues at all before this! Not happy

The cylinder is likely hydrolocked and unable to be compressed at startup which is what is frying your starters. Whomever put the starter in is not warrantying it?

Not sure yet. He told us that the new starter could go at any time, but I was hoping it would last longer than that. He told us to move on from the car, but I need to get a hold of him because after dropping almost $500 for the new starter, I'm hoping it will be warrantied.

It absolutely should be and if they aren't warrantying their labor after such a short period you should find a different repair shop. If it is a dealership they typically have a two year parts (if OEM) and labor warranty on their work.

Has it been diagnosed with a blown head gasket? It sure sounds like one.

Hello, I would like to add ours to this list as well. We have an entry level 2017 Pacifica and have needed to replace both head gaskets (under 60k miles). Thankfully they were under warranty, but now the engine is burning coolant based on our mechanic without an exterior leak. As I hear, this means it is going into the engine and so the engine will need to be rebuilt...again! This time not under warranty. I sure hope Chrysler will help with the cost but it might be a fools hope.

Did a dealer perform the original repair? How many miles since fixed?
