Not very bright headlights

Does anybody else think the headlights on the Pacifica are dim and do not shine very far? If so what would recommend as a replacement bulb?

How long have you had the bulbs? I was looking at a set, but went with the 9011s for now. I'd be interested in the lifespan of the LEDs and how good a beam pattern they put out. I had after market hids on an older caddy with projector lenses and they worked great until the ballast would fail. But they were cheap enough to buy an extra set for spares. Definitely better than the halogens, but I didn't want to bother with the ballasts right now, and none of the leds got rave enough reviews to sway me to try them yet. You'll have to keep us updated with how your set fair.

Wagner Lighting 9011 Halogen Capsule - Box of 1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C8XRHS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_y0oSxb6AH0YTP

I used these, they require a little snip on one of the tabs to fit, but they are a better alternative. A bit brighter and whiter. I was going to go with hids, but decided to try these first and I'm good with them so far. Hids will be brighter, but the ads on systems are a bit less reliable than oem and especially regular halogen bulbs.

LED's are the way to go. HID's are a thing of the past. After-market ballasts never seem to last.

Limited comes standard with HID's other are old school Thomas Edison bulbs

Yes. LED's would be a easy direct swap. HID's require mounting the ballast

Follow up on this question, wondering also. Any recommendations for both low and high beam LED's that are a simple swap? Links?

I have a 2017 pacifica limited with HID headlights, and am finding them to be rather dim. I've owned a few cars with Hid or led headlights. Actually the last three cars I owned,

2012 Audi A7
2015 Mercedes S550 sedan
2016 Mercedes S550 coupe

were all led and projected white, bright light down the road. The headlights are the only real disappointment in an otherwise fine vehicle. Not much to be done about it. I've tried after market HID and found them to be wanting.

A Lot of the seemingly brightness of the three cars you mentioned are the kelvins they used which are near or at daylight (5000k-6000K 35-55W respectively) The Pacifica, based on eyeball test, uses 3500-4000K which is warm indoor lighting... or... the same ugly brown color light found on every other car out there. I installed HID 55W 6000K lights in my CX-9 and they made a world of difference. The light isnt brighter (lumens), it is cooler (Kelvin). Also, beam pattern has more to do with the projector housing than it does with the light source, although, it does play a small part; a light bulb too long or too short inside the projector will project differently but it is minor.

I have a 2017 Limited and while I do have over 4,000 miles on it, this week is the first night time highway driving I've done. The lights were absolutely terrible when it comes to actually being able to read any of the typical large overhead highway green and white signs. It is like the headlights are not aimed high enough to even offer a hint of light on the upcoming highway signs. Maybe it is a factor of the bulbs just not being bright enough period, but my feeling was that they did a good job on road visibility but forget reading the signs.

Instead of messing with the OEM lights, which i think are OK as far as lighting goes, i am looking to supplement them with some single row LED light bars mounted behind the lower grill. At that position, i should be able to run 2 spot pattern lights without blinding any oncoming traffic. Just need the time to look at the front end and figure out what size lights i can run in that location. I run Truck-Lite LED headlights in my 2000 Jeep Cherokee so i'm a bit spoiled by those as far as output. I'll post up whatever i figure out with my Pacifica.

By the way took a quick pic when traffic was light around me where it seemed I was driving alone with traffic ahead and behind.

Plenty bright for the road. I don't need to be blinding other drivers because I know how annoying it can be. Its really annoying when others have their high beam on all the time and/or have their aftermarket or their low beam somehow pointing higher than it should.

so for those of us who have NON projectors, whats the general consensus for bulbs? a buddy of mine has bulbs from this Australian company called Narva. i asked him how his bulbs were so much brighter than the last time i was in his car. he showed me these bulbs. pretty impressive i may spring for some, figured id ask here before i did their 24v Plus 100 bulbs look promising.....

or i may go with PIAA like ive done in my other cars lol
