Dealer visit scheduled, not able to get it serviced for 2 weeks :(
While calling them, found that there are "software updates" available that due to the warranty expiration, now have to be paid for. Anyone know if these can be DIY? (I don't think they're talking about the UConnect, as that seems uptodate.)

You would have to buy wiTECH Micropod 2 and then purchase a temporary license through wiTECH to use it. It would be cheaper to pay the dealer 300 to 400 rather than spend the 1000s required the DIY way.

Be sure to have your dealer check all modules for updates if you have them do this. If you have Uconnect Theater, there is a VRM update for that as well that can only be done through the dealer via a USB flash drive.

You can also do the Uconnect head unit and VRM update yourself at your own risk.

Hi Chiminivan,
Thanks for encouraging me to close the loop!
More info: that check engine light was on and off (mostly on) for the 2 week period leading up to the dealer appointment.
It's now fixed (knock on wood.)

The dealer tech noted: "Found high temp valve wire connector melted set dtc fault code p0e7b-00. Create VSR and DTC fault code. R and R coolant hoses, high temp shut off valve, replace wires connector to high temp pump. Refill system perform high temp coolant fill and passive coolant fill, reset."
This was covered under the warranty.
Additionally the software updates were not charged as well as part of a rapid response transmittal (21-010 -> 013)

Took longer than I wanted (3+ days) as they needed to order the parts, and apparently needed my approval by a certain time to get the part ordered (even though covered under warranty.) :(

You’re awesome, thanks for doing that! Interestingly, I have also become aware that the Check engine light was on/off a couple of times for the last month, before staying on this Monday.

Our Pacifica has about $49K miles on it, I think we’re out of warranty so I’ll report back on how much it ends up being in case it’s helpful to another user!

Hopefully final update for me! Was diagnosed with a failed coolant valve as well; wiring seemed fine; also took 3 day shipping, with the holiday ended up in the shop for almost two weeks. I was originally quoted at ~$700, ~50/50 for part and labor. I had to specifically push back and ask them why it wasn’t covered under the Powertrain 5yr/$60k warranty, which is unfortunate. Ended up coming in at $0 cost. If anyone else has this issue, please post so we can track it!

“failed coolant bypass valve b verified complaint scanned vehicle found code P0E7C-00 for coolant bypass valve b control circuit low, performed guided test, check connector for damage, connector was ok, check power at connector, 12.3 vdc was ok, performed actuation and valve did not click on,
install manual 12v to valve and still no click r+r 12v battery negative cable, drain coolant from system, r+r high temp bypass valve b install in reverse order fill and bleed coolant circuit. no issues after repairs”

Hello,
My Pacifica Hybrid threw this same code and the engine light came on at 51 thousand miles. We had to really push the dealer to have it replaced under the 60,000 mile warranty.
In addition, he said that the hybrid technician does not recommend we drive the car and we were asked to leave it at the dealership. He said the replacement part would take 2 weeks to arrive. It’s now been 3 weeks and we’ve been told that it’s back ordered for an indefinite amount of time and when it arrives we’ll be informed. He’s refusing to give us any estimates.

Has anyone had this coolant valve replaced recently? How long did it take to get it done and did you drive your car while you were waiting.

Also, the dealer insisted that we have to pay $220 to flush the coolant and replace it. Said it’s not covered under warranty. After arguing with him about having the valve replaced under warranty, my husband caved and said yes to paying, I’m wondering if anyone else had to pay separately.
FYI, we were told it would cost $2,220 to replace the valve and flush the coolant without the warranty.

Ours was in the shop for a week. We did not pay a dime. I don’t think there is any reason to do a coolant flush at 51k. If they did on ours then there was no charge. Also, they told us we would have to pay but when they resubmitted to try to do it under warranty it came back that it was covered. If we would have had to pay it was around $700 total.

Hello again,
This is a big ask. I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me (or send me a photo) of the invoice with the part number for this valve. I'm hoping I'll be able to keep track of it's availability and maybe start calling around to try and see if it's available elsewhere. The dealer still says the part is "indefinitely available". Are there any other recommendations for the next steps I should take?

Thank you

I spent a better part of yesterday calling dealerships in my state (Michigan) and the states neighboring mine. I found out that there are about 65 or so cars waiting for this part and that the valve is scheduled to arrive at distribution sites on March 20th. However, there is no guarantee that this time frame is accurate because it was also supposed to arrive in February and it never did. Hope you don’t end up with as long a wait as I’ve had.

I've been replacing this valve a decent amount recently. Also, it's a three-way coolant valve. For, whatever reason, it's labeled a two-way valve in parts. It's located behind the right front headlamp. It's a bit of a pain to replace without the proper hose clamp tools. It's only covered under the basic warranty

Ours was covered under emissions warranty since its related to the hybrid system. Should get the replacement part on April 25th, hopefully we can get it back on the 26th since that's my wife's day off. Also we're glad we had a loaner, but how people drive and enjoy those new Grand Cherokee, I'll never understand.

We had both codes POE7B and POE7C shortly after we acquired our 2018 from a private party with 63k miles, so completely out of warranty. My shade tree mechanic wanted no part of those codes and recommended taking it to the dreaded dealership. Engine light was illuminating on and off but became consistent. Just driving around town in EV mode didn't concern me, but didn't want to take it on a road trip using the ICE until it was fixed. Called three Birmingham metro dealers before one even had a service spot open in less than two weeks. When they confirmed the valve had failed they said the valve was on back order for a month (April 2022). They kept it during that time and promised to try and find a way to expedite. Ended up being 6 weeks before they serviced the vehicle which was really annoying since the Rednyeck Swan was out of Comish for our planned beach camping trip. Cost $710 before tax.

Hi,

Got the same DTC on my Pacifica Hybrid 2017.
Dealer says the part is still backorder. Gave me an appointment in 8 days to do the diagnostic, and then they will be able to order the part...
Can anyone give me some details on where this valve is used? Some ppl said they got it replaced under the powertrain warranty, so I guess it's somehow used in the ICE?
What would be the risks of continuing to drive the vehicle, while awaiting that appointment, or even the part to arrive?

If it matters, I live in Montreal Canada, where the outside temperatures are mostly below 32˚F those days.

Thanks.

Just got the warning engine light, scanned at Auto Zone, code P0E7C: Coolant Bypass Valve B Control Circuit Low. Part# 68237835AB out of stock at dealerships. Only found an used one. Tempting to buy it, so I can use the van during Spring Break in 2 weeks.

Question: How does the electrical connector release? It twists a little, but afraid to try too hard. Did not see a press clip to release. Any one know? TIA

Details: 2018 Pacifica Hybrid with 69k miles so out of warranty and dealership doesn't have the appointment or part for several weeks.

Don't twist it. There's a little latch opposite the cables. Small screwdriver to open that latch. Slide that cap cover off, then pliers to grab the cables (including press clip) and pull straight up.

I was able to get the connector out, but now unable to removed the two way valve assembly as the 3 hoses are deep in there. Any advice anyone?

After 4 trips to the dealer I got this replaced under warranty but after trip 2 I heard this rhythmic cycling, it’s near the rear axle, any ideas ? Failing pump? It’s not that loud but I can hear it from inside.

Loud battery coolant pump? Failing?

My 2017 Pacifica Hybrid started showing the P0E7C code last month. I brought it in, and their notes were:

"TECHNICIAN SCANNED VEHICLE, VERIFIED VEHICLE ARRIVED WITH CODE P0E7C-00 COOLANT BYPASS VALVE "B" CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW. VERIFIED COOLANT BYPASS VALVE BINDING UP. RECOMMENDS REPLACING COOLANT BYPASS VALVE WITH NEW AND REPLENISHING COOLANT SUPPLY. REPAIRS COVERED BY SERVICE CONTRACT, CUSTOMER RESPONSIBLE FOR $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE AT TIME OF REPAIRS. PARTS 3-5 DAYS AWAY, DEALER TO CONTACT CUSTOMER WHEN PARTS ARRIVE."

They quoted me around $950, and I mentioned that I thought the extended warranty that I had purchased (service contract) would cover it, and they checked, and it did. They did let me bring the car home, so I'm not without a car (they recommended "not going on a road trip"). If it takes a lot longer or there are issues, I'll follow up.

So... it's still not done, with no ETA on the part.

The check engine light came on the first week of February, which happens to be the month the inspection sticker is due. On February 8, 2023 I made an appointment for March 6, 2023 (the earliest they had). They ordered the part, saying it was "3-5 days away", let me bring the car home. On March 9, 2023 they let me know that the part had arrived, but the earliest appointment was March 31. I brought the car in today, they started to work on it... only to find they had the wrong part and it is on backorder (the sheet says "NOT PERFORMED DUE TO WRONG PART ARRIVED. DEALER TO CONTACT CUSTOMER TO INSTALL WHEN CORRECT PART ARRIVES.").

If this isn't fixed within 23 days (which, from the timeframe above, is very likely), the state "may suspend" the car registration. Massachusetts has 2 types of waivers, but they only apply if the work was done. <sigh>

Adding a voice to the thread. Van threw this code. Took 2 weeks to get in for service. Service took a day (part was in stock at dealer), covered everything (diag, part, labor), specifically said under 10/100K hybrid battery warranty. Service summary I got looked exactly like the one posted earlier in the thread.

I wonder if you can even do that without the witech tool to tell the system you did.. I always assumed these new cars everything has to be "checked in and out" of the system or some nonsense.. No idea honestly though it's why I bought the life time warranty. Honestly thought unless you have to many miles you should be still in the hybrid warranty and I believe that valve should be covered under that. No promises though. The sheet says it's a hybrid component on page 1 though I believe..

I have a question. I bought a used 2021 Pacifica that appears to have been originally purchased in CA. So does that automatically qualify it for the ZEV extended warranty? I mean heck if just transferring title to a different state would change that why could I not just register it back in CA later and get the ZEV extension if I needed it? Seems like the original place of purchase would establish that for a particular VIN number? At least that is MY preference LOL. Apparently a replacement Hybrid Battery is around 17k so for owners approaching 100k miles on the std 100k mile warranty this could be a serious consideration of whether to keep a vehicle or not to keep it past 100k miles...

Hello. I"m from Poland. I have Pacifica Hybrid 2017 and 2 code - P0E80 (waiting) and P0E7F (permanent)
I replaced the valve 68237835AB but the error immediately returned. I think the valve works. However, the errors keep coming back. Maybe you have some experience in such a case?
Or maybe I'm replacing the wrong valve? But even Chrysler claims in the TSB that these errors require the replacement of this valve.
