There have been posts that attorney fees are not refunded in some cases. Make sure you have a clear understanding with the lawyer. Good luck.

STERICYCLE bought my hybrid van after it was in the shop for 50 days. The buy back process takes about a month and they let me drive the car while waiting for the process to be completed. My Uconnect system never worked til it was replaced. I refused to pay for my mileage as I received the car with the defect which was not related to the mileage. My dealer was great and I considered buying a second vehicle but it looks like FCA has not been able to produce a more car reliable update of the car. You may end up eating the cost of any additional warranty or accessories ie floor mats....worth the peace of mind of getting rid of the car.

This morning I experienced the stall while at wide open throttle and attempting to enter an on-ramp on the highway. The sad part is I have already had the PCM reprogram recall done - https://www.chrysler.com/universal/webselfservice/pdf/U01.pdf , and I also had the auto shut-off disabled (if related). I did just file with the NHTSA before posting here - https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint

Text filed with NHTSA :

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Touring Plus with all the latest known software recalls up to date as of 8/22/2018 experienced a full stall while under wide open throttle and attempting to enter a highway on ramp. The stall seemed like a transmission lag, shifting delay or lack of response. the engine from 0-20 mph had plenty of power (RPM's); then when switching gears it seems the power was cut for a full 3-5 seconds while the transmission made a shift and only after letting off the accelerator (even though there were 0 rpms) did it finally kick into motion again and pull out of the stall. The systems auto stop was disabled via the override button on the dashboard when this occurred and the gas tank was 40% full.

Crazy and disturbing. The zero RPMS and sudden resumption of power (were you still moving?) would point some weirdness with the stop-start system, since only it should be able to restart the engine without being in park.......

Is it at the dealer yet? If not, get a free printout of any OBD codes at an auto part store before they age out.

Please keep us posted.

I haven't checked the OBD since I haven't seen any check engine lights or anything come up on the dash.

Sorry when I said zero RPM's I didn't mean the engine actually died just went from pushing some 6k RPM's (or whatever the near red line is under WOT) and then when it went to shift it dropped the RPM's to whatever idle is (expected); but then the gear shift just took forever and didn't seem to engage until I let up off the accelerator. It reminded me of an old 1985 Camaro that always took forever to shift gears. The whole time I was moving 20-30mph (starting to coast during power-loss) during the stall and then once it kicked in I quickly got up to 60+mph but it was too late to hit the on ramp at speed so I just stayed on the access road and got real

I guess I was confused by terminology. In an automotive thread, I think stall typically means engine has shut off (as opposed to a airplane "stall" due to loss of lift.)

I would still check the OBD --AFIK not every code is immediately reflected in the message center / telltales.

Good luck.

Original poster update

Haven't been on this site for a while due to the recall we got which were supposed to fix the car stalling issue. Luckily we have not experienced any stalls after the 2 we had at <1K and 11K miles. Recently hit the 30K mark with my pacifica. Had an issue with the driver side rear door re-opening sometimes after multiple attempts to close it. Was at dealer last week for the 2 recent recalls, they looked at it and did a flash to hopefully stop the problem. Good so far. Hoping to continue with no further problems. Hoping other affected have found relief from the recalls too. :)

My Pacifica shutted down on its own while I was driving. First it gave a ring and then I got a message to put it inP and then restart. And then it died. All took like 10 seconds. Imagine if I would be on a freeway.

It would be good to know more info about your van. If you could put your you van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc.) in the signature line of the UserCP it will show up at the bottom of each post. How many miles on your van, build date (on driver's door)? Have you had any recall software done on your van? You can check the Mopar website to see if any recalls are needed.

You can private message @ChryslerCares by clicking on the red letters to see if there are any suggestions for your van. An auto parts store may be able to check codes for you if any were stored.

@Bond007 Thanks for your kind words. I like being a member and helping when I can. This van was such a leap in technology for our family that I need all the help I can get with it. I'm not really a "car" person, but I have spent many years at the dealer service department trying to get repairs accomplished. I really appreciate it when people post solutions that I can print and take with me to the service department.

Since the stall issue in this thread was supposed to have been addressed awhile ago with a recall, it is a good idea for people who have this problem to private message @ChryslerCares with their VIN to help direct the solution to their problem. I appreciate all the help @ChryslerCares has given me with my van's transmission which is currently doing fine. Years ago we had a car with a phantom stall that was related to a transmission solenoid. The dealer's mechanics couldn't figure it out, but another mechanic took a guess at it and it worked. So the more people who pool their resources the better.

Your mention of a phantom stall brought up memories of a similar experience with a very different cause way back. We had a 1968 Volvo (the one that looked like the box it came in!). It ran pretty well during all my day to day city driving, but when taking it out on long highway steady drives, it would sometimes just quit. I'd pull over by the side of the road, wait a few minutes, start up, and continue until it decided to quit again. The Volvo dealer could not figure it out, and assumed I was just crazy. We checked the fuel pump, ignition, vacuum readings, nothing could be found. To shorten a long story, a buddy (who built race cars) investigated and found that on long steady drives, the fuel would be blocked from the line. He took the tank off, and found a floating piece of plastic wrap in the tank. During steady driving it apparently would cover the outlet, but city driving caused the fuel to slosh around and not allow the plastic to settle over the outlet. There was no @VolvoCares to help with that one! :)

My 2017 Pacifica hybrid just died on the highway for the third time. All incidents have happened within a mile of each other (same place on highway). The vehicle was at Hayes Chrysler dealer for the past two weeks trying to recreate the issue with no success. They updated all software and made note of the issue. Next time on the highway, same thing. 78mph with 32% battery life, get message to put into Park to start car. Vehicle loses power steering and main engine shuts down. After drifting off the highway and putting in park, there is no way to turn the vehicle off. Standard battery has been disconnected, but vehicle won't switch to a true off position. Going to have to sell the vehicle if this isn't resolved.

Hi Snearman,
We deeply regret to hear about your experience. Has a case been opened on the Customer Care side to ensure this is properly documented as well as connect you with a case specialist to assist throughout the repair process? If not, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to get this started for you!

Hi,

My 2018 just stalled while driving towards the end of a 2 hour drive. Who should I contact to ensure that this issue is properly documented? I don't want to wait until my Pacifica stalls several more times as I drive my small children in it and their safety is important to me. What is Chrysler doing to resolve this known issue?!

sorry to burst bubble

our van just did it for the first time, just as described above.

its the first time, its a 2017 touring L plus
44000 miles

i was just in last month under my extended to have the sliding door issue sorted out, while in there we did all other updates, of course the ones they dont tell you unless you complain about them.....such as front warning collision, and something with control stalks and steering module

i really thought we were safe from having this problem but i guess not, esp as this should have already been sorted

@ChryslerCares get at me

im pissed
